Sal - Cape Verde Islands - Africa

Cape Verde, named after a green Cape in Senegal that was discovered by the Portuguese in 1470. The 400,000 Cape Verde people share a Catholic, Portuguese-speaking, friendly and welcoming culture and cuisine with Portugal and Brazil.

South enough to keep it warm throughout our winter, but close enough to make it affordable to fly to if the Caribbean or other Southern hemisphere countries are out of your reach by budget or ‘fly time’.

The islands themselves are found in the Atlantic about 1500km south of the Canary islands. Midway between Portugal and Brazil, the nine Cape Verde islands are perfect for beach holidays.  The weather is always fine in the summer and it is typically 10 degrees warmer than the Canaries in the winter.
